We support and facilitate the administrative, financial, and regulatory requirements of research and sponsored projects at our member hospitals.

Working with Mass General Brigham

In this shared services model, the research support offices facilitate the administrative, financial, and regulatory requirements of research and sponsored projects that are received by our member institutions, including the following primary research member and affiliated institutions:

Mass General Brigham is an active Federal Demonstration Partnership member

Mass General Brigham member and affiliated institutions are active participants in the Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP) Clearing House that provides institutional profiles containing entity-based information needed by pass-through entities when they are issuing subawards or monitoring their subrecipient entities, under the following entity names: Brigham and Women's Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital, Mass Eye and Ear, McLean Hospital, Newton-Wellesley Hospital, Schepens Eye Research Institute, and Spaulding Rehabilitation Network.

Human Research Protection Program policy and guidance

The Mass General Brigham Human Research Protection Committee has created policies and guidance documents around the conduct of human subjects research, including Quality Improvement (QI) program checklists, study logs, and tools for researchers.  

Fede​ralwide Ass​urances (FWAs), Institutional Review Board Registrations (IRB), and IRB Membersh​​ip

The Mass General Brigham IRBs operate in compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines pertaining to IRBs as listed below, and with the FWA and incorporated “Terms of the Federalwide Assurance for Institutions within the United States” held by Mass General Brigham:

  • Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) 45 CFR Parts 46 and 164
  • Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 21 CFR Parts 50 and 56
  • International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guideline E6 relating to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), section 3(3.1-3.4), unless ICH guidelines conflict with FDA Regulations

Mass General Brigham Information Security and Privacy​:

 

Multiple Mass General Brigham offices review and execute research agreements on behalf of the hospitals, and issue outgoing research agreements to all types of entities. 

Only authorized signatories—a Mass General Brigham designated official or a Senior Vice President of research for the applicable hospital—have the authority to execute research agreements on behalf of the hospitals. Principals Investigators are not authorized as institutional signing officials.

For Subrecipients on sponsored projects awarded to a Mass General Brigham hospital

All Subrecipient invoices must be sent to the mailboxes below for processing. The mailboxes are staffed by a dedicated team that enters invoices into the system and routes them to Principal Investigators and Department Administrators for review and approval.

For sponsors​​​ and prime recipients

All questions/requests on invoices generated and distributed by Research Finance for Brigham and Women's Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Mass Eye and Ear, McLean Hospital, MGH Institute of Health Professions, Schepens Eye Research Institute, and Spaulding Rehabilitation Network should be sent to phsinvoice@partners.org​. 

Where should I send payments?

All payments should be sent to the appropriate lockbox address listed below. Should you wish to make an electronic payment and require our banking information, please contact PHSResearchCash@partners.org. Including reference numbers and PI name along with the check is greatly appreciated and helps us quickly identify the correct fund.​​
