In light of widespread COVID-19 throughout the communities we serve, Partners HealthCare is taking every step to protect our patients, families and health care workers. To this end, we have implemented several changes in policy for the near term in an effort to contain the spread of this pandemic.

Visitor Policy
No visitors will be allowed at Partners HealthCare hospitals and rehabilitation facilities except for very limited exceptions. We understand how important family and friends are to patient recovery, but we must do everything we can to prevent further spread of the virus and to protect our patients.

  • Please review the specific facility's website for the latest policies before attempting to visit one of our hospitals.
  • Anyone who receives special permission to visit but develops obvious signs of illness, such as fever, cough or sore throat, will be respectfully asked to leave.

Protecting Our Health Care Workers
All Partners HealthCare employees are required to wear a mask when in clinical care settings or interacting with patients. In addition to clinical caregivers, all medical workers, administrators and support staff are wearing masks in any building where care is provided. As staff across Partners work with vendors to secure additional supplies, each staff member is asked to wear one mask per shift unless it becomes visibly soiled or damaged.

“Our most precious resource is our workforce, and we have to have not just the nurses and physicians wearing masks, but we have to have food services, janitorial, administrative and all of our staff wear them, because everyone is necessary to run a hospital,” said Paul Biddinger, MD, Chief of Emergency Preparedness for Partners HealthCare.

In addition, we require staff members “with even minimal symptoms to stay out of work,” added Dr. Biddinger, who noted that up to 20% of COVID-19 transmission occurs via asymptomatic patients.

If you believe you may have been exposed to COVID-19, or have symptoms that may indicate exposure, please contact your health care provider’s office by phone or via Partners Patient Gateway before seeking care in person.

Please continue to do everything you can to protect yourself and your families.
