The MassGeneral Brigham Resident/Fellow Well-Being Council was established in early 2018 to promote wellness among all residents and fellows. Ongoing and past projects include enhancing trainee mental health services, planning resident appreciation events, supporting national physician suicide awareness day and promoting culture change.
Mission Statement:
"The MassGeneral Brigham Resident/Fellow Well-Being Council is composed of residents and fellows, working on behalf of residents and fellows. The council aims to improve work satisfaction and joy in practice, promote work-life integration, and implement effective solutions that improve individual physician wellbeing, our communal culture, and ultimately, the care of patients. This will be achieved through programs to:
- provide residents and fellows with strategies for both acute and preventive self-care
- promote culture change in our workplaces
- innovate system redesign in our workflows and functions
- collate and disseminate resources across Partners GME training programs
- and rigorously evaluate the efficacy of these various initiatives
We do this work with the full backing and support of the Office of Graduate Medical Education here at MassGeneral Brigham. We believe that when empowered and supported to take care of ourselves as whole people, we are more willing and better equipped to treat our patients in kind."
