Parental Leave
The new Partners Vacation, Sick Time, and Leave Policy provides up to 12 weeks of leave for new parents. The leave is available to parents of a newborn, those who adopt, and whose who are foster parents, regardless of the gender of the parent. The leave must be taken within 12 months of the birth, adoption, or initiation of foster care. For details, see the policy which can be found on the Policies webpage.
Lactation Rooms and Equipment
All Partners employees have access to lactation rooms and equipment. For specific information and locations, please review the Mother's Corner Brochure. The Mothers' Corner is a program for Partners employees returning to work after maternity leave. The Mothers' Corner provides new mothers with the opportunity to continue breastfeeding while back at work. Mothers need to pre-register for access to lactation rooms by contacting the Partners Employee Assistance Program at 1 866 724 4EAP.
Childcare
Partners offers both traditional and back-up child care services. For more information, see the Partners site, the BWH list of child care options, or the MGH list. For a list of resident/clinical fellow eligibility, click here.
BWH offers backup childcare for benefits-eligible employees of BWH with children from infants through 12 years old at a rate of $8/hr, 2-hour minimum. Parents can use the emergency backup care a maximum of 20 days per fiscal year. Childcare is at 850 Boylston Street.
MGH offers backup childcare for benefits-eligible employees of MGH with children from infants to 12 years old at a rate of $8/hour, 2-hour minimum. Parents can use the backup care a maximum of 20 days per fiscal year. Childcare is on the main campus at MGH.
Bereavement, Exigency and Other Leaves
The Vacation, Sick Time, and Leave Policy also covers leaves for other personal issues that may arise during the course of a resident or clinical fellow's training.
