RVL's collective success in 2005 was a result of the strong and evolving partnerships among its faculty and scientists, industry, the financial community and the professionals within RVL. To further these partnerships, in early 2005, RVL was established with the goal of organizing the collective Partners' resources to support commercializing the scientific discoveries of its faculty to benefit patients around the world.

THE RVL GOALS
- Provide support and guidance for corporate sponsored research activities
- Translate technology and healthcare advances to the commercial sector for our patients
- Promote novel relationships with industry to support the Partners mission
- Cultivate funding to leverage Partners science base
- Promote collaboration within RVL functional groups and across PHS
- Develop a "bench to bedside" model to support innovation
- Create a service model that meets the needs of internal and external customers
- Generate revenue from the translation of Partner's science to the patient's bedside for re-investment in mission-related initiatives
RVL's FOUR DEPARTMENTS
The four core divisions of RVL work together to support and leverage the innovative work of its scientists:
- Corporate Sponsored Research and Licensing (CSRL): provides technology transfer, research support, and licensing activities across MGH, BWH, and McLean.
- Corporate Sponsored Clinical Research (CSCR): negotiates agreements and budgets for industry-sponsored clinical research across Partners HealthCare System.
- Business Development (BD): markets intellectual property and establishes system-wide strategic alliances with the life sciences industries to leverage the science base across Partners HealthCare System.
- Center for Innovative Ventures (CIV): promotes a culture of entrepreneurship by educating our faculty and supporting the creation and financing of start-up ventures that result from inventions from Partners HealthCare System laboratories.
