Core Summary:

The Knight Surgical Research Laboratory (KSRL) is an AALAC accredited, fully staffed and stocked, multi-purpose large animal survival surgery facility. The lab was established in 1989 and is operated and maintained by the Department of Surgery. Investigators from the Department of Surgery and outside the Department use the facility to perform surgery for Subcommittee on Research Animal Care (SRAC) approved large animal research studies. The KSRL comprises approximately 2,500 square feet of space and is located on Thier 6 on the MGH Main Campus, in close proximity to the large animal housing facility on Edwards 6. The facility includes one large operative suite of approximately 800 square feet and another operative suite of 864 square feet, which can be divided into two procedure rooms, as well as approximately 830 square feet of office and supply storage space.
