| At MGH, a diabetes research team cured
Type 1 (so-called juvenile) diabetes in 80% of diseased
lab mice. After the team injected the mice for 40 days
with a compound, diseased cells died off and were replaced
by healthy adult stem cells. Previously they identified
a T cell defect in diabetic mice that destroys insulin-producing
beta cells. |

Harvard Clinical Research Institute (HCRI) is a joint venture of Harvard Medical School, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Partners HealthCare. A not-for-profit organization, HCRI works with industry sponsors to advance patient care through world-class clinical research. Building on the foundation set forth by the Cardiovascular Data Analysis Center (CDAC), HCRI draws on the experience of conducting over 200 medical device, pharmaceutical and biologic product trials for domestic and international clients and has supported hundreds of peer-reviewed publications.
HARVARD-PARTNERS CENTER FOR GENETICS
AND GENOMICS
To realize the promise of genetics and genomics in research
and in medical practice, the Harvard Medical School-Partners
Healthcare Center for Genetics and Genomics was established.
Its mission is to promote genetics and genomics in research
and clinical medicine
The Partners AIDS Research Center exists to facilitate multi-disciplinary
AIDS research, promote HIV-related education and training,
and enhance clinical care of HIV-infected persons. The Center
serves both the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Brigham
and Women’s Hospital, and is a natural progression of
the more than twenty year commitment by the clinicians and
scientists at these institutions to HIV and AIDS research
and care.
