HOSPITAL AUXILIARY SERVICES

BWH

The Friends of BWH is a group of people interested in providing effective service and support to the BWH. Friends of BWH raises funds and provides services to support patient care, medical research and education. Newcomers Resource Center
A service for the new and visiting professional staff, patients, their families and other associated with the hospital. The information provided by the Center is in the form of books, pamphlets and files and is designed to facilitate one’s introduction to the many facets of Metropolitan Boston and New England including housing opportunities in Boston. The Resource Center is located in the Friends of BWH office in the hospital in PBB B-309. The office is open from Monday through Friday 9 am – 5 pm.

Gift Shop
A varied selection of gifts, plants, flowers, games and seasonal items available for purchase.

Therapy
A craft-oriented service free to patients to help them in their recovery. We provide materials for knitting, crocheting, puzzles, cards, games, videos etc. Call (617)732-5319 for more information or to donate items. Donations are always appreciated and needed.

Library
A lending library service free to patients and employees with many choices of up-to-date books and magazines. Call (617)732-5319 for hours and more information.

MGH AUXILIARY SERVICES

The Ladies Visiting Committee (LVC) is dedicated to enhancing the MGH experience in ways that contribute to the comfort and well-being of patients, their families and the hospital community at large. The LVC Chair is Mrs. Lucy Burr, who can be reached through the MGH Volunteer Department, Clinics 143, (617) 726-8540.

The LVC sponsors the MGH General Store and Flower Shop. Profits from the Shops are used for the benefit of the hospital. In addition to gifts, greeting cards and flowers the General Store offers the following services: 2-day dry cleaning, shoe repair, film processing, free gift wrap, postage stamps, telephone calling cards, packaging and shipping of any purchase to anywhere in the USA for $5.00 and worldwide wire for flowers. The LVC also sponsors Images, a full-service beauty shop, including prosthetics and wigs for cancer patients.

The Friends of the MGH Cancer Center is a volunteer organization committed to providing comfort, support, education and amenities to cancer patients and their families through our dedicated, care-giving staff. Three major initiates of the Friends are the Network for Patients and Families, the Cancer Resource Room (Cox 110) and the DIALOGUES lecture series.
