Primary care at the MGH spans nine continuity internal medicine practices,
two continuity pediatric practice, one family practice, four community
healthcare centers and one urgent care walk-in facility. The primary
care network involves more than 160 primary care physicians and accounted
for more than 325k visits last year.
The practice locations are geographically disbursed in and around
the Boston area, with the majority being on or adjacent to the main

Medical Walk-In Unit (MWIU)
The MWIU operates as an adult medicine, urgent care ambulatory facility.
It is located on the first floor of the WACC across from the pharmacy;
operating hours are 8:30 am - 9 pm, Monday - Friday and 9:30 am -
5 pm, Saturday and Sunday. It sees approximately 19k visits a year
and is staffed with a combination of senior faculty and fellows. The
MWIU operates under the direction of Drs. Barbara Woo and Richard
Pingree. This practice serves as a major teaching site for Harvard
medical students as well as for first year medical residents who elect
an ambulatory experience.
