UNITED STATES MEDICAL LICENSING EXAMINATION (USMLE)

The Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine (BORM) requires passing scores on USMLE steps 1 and 2 and a valid ECFMG certificate (see below) to obtain limited medical licensure. Please visit the BORM website at: http://www.massmedboard.org/ for licensing requirements. Please note that the MA Board does not accept The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination in Medical Science (FMGEMS) for licensure.

International Medical Graduates interested in training at a Partner's Institution should visit the ECFMG website at: http://www.ecfmg.org for information regarding certification requirements, procedures and the examination schedule.

USMLE step 3

Massachusetts requires one year of post graduate training as a prerequisite to taking Step 3 of USMLE. Information on registration for computerized testing can be found on both the USMLE and BORM website.
