- No GME training program will be closed because of an effort to
reduce the number of GME trainees.
- No GME training program will be required to reduce below the
size necessary to maintain a critical mass of residents (for maintenance
of program excellence) or a minimum number as may be defined by
ACGME.
- Reduction in the number of GME trainees will be accomplished by
recruiting fewer residents, never by eliminating occupied positions
in a training program.
- Commitments made to current trainees and to trainees who have
accepted an offer to matriculate in the future will be upheld.
- Residents in programs that may be reduced in size or closed will
be informed as soon as possible after the decison has been made.
- It is the responsibility of the hospital and Partners education
committees to assess the impact of proposed trainee reductions,
and make appropriate recommendations to hospital and Partners leadership.
