Comprehensive training is provided in all levels of care: inpatient, residential, opioid maintenance, partial hospital, outpatient, consultation and community treatment. Training sites include:

  • North Charles Institute for the Addictions

Educational Program: The program seeks to equip outstanding psychiatrists with:

  • Comprehensive addictions treatment skills, including screening, diagnosis, behavioral therapies, pharmacotherapies, systems management, treatment planning, and consultation in both a general medical/surgical and psychiatric setting
  • Broad exposure to treatment modalities, including individual, group, and family
  • Leadership skills for the administrative direction of contemporary addictions treatment programs
  • Teaching opportunities to prepare for academic duties in addiction psychiatry
  • Scholarship skills for critical literature review and understanding of research design and reporting

Research Opportunities: Current projects include NIAAA- and NIDA-sponsored clinical studies in pharmacotherapies and psychotherapies (Roger Weiss MD & Shelly Greenfield, MD, MPH), drug abuse behavioral pharmacology (Scott Lukas PhD), neuroimaging (Perry Renshaw MD),
