Partners Collaborative Media Services - Videoconferencing and more:

Partners Digital Media Group has joined hands with Partners Videoconferencing Group to form Partners Collaborative Media Services. The two groups are committed to broaden total services with integrated technologies and streamlined operations. As we expand our programs, staff and resources, we are also excited to have added 25 New Chardon Street 4th floor to our MGH Ellison 23rd floor office. The joint team will offer a complete range of media services to the personnel and affiliated institutions of Partners HealthCare, Inc. Among the services are full-range video production, videoconferencing, media encoding, web streaming, live webcast, CD / DVD creation and duplication. Information here:

Sharing files internally:

1. Partners Research Computing now offers a Secure File Transfer Service to exchange large files up to 9GB with collaborators both inside and outside of Partners via a web browser rather than ftp. The service is a secure web based application with anti-virus detection built in. The attached files are encrypted and uploaded to an appliance and the recipient receives an email with a link. When the recipient clicks the link, the file is downloaded from the appliance; first time recipients are asked to register. Partners users can also send an email invitation via the system to users outside of Partners to register to use the service. The system will authenticate anyone within Partners by using your e-mail address and choosing a six character or longer password. The password should contain both numbers and letters. Register and view the quick start guide. To send/share files greater than 9GB, see option 3 below.

2. Call the Help Desk and request a Shared File Area (sfa). Although there is no "hard" size limit for a SFA, users may receive a request at ~300 MB to review data for possible deletion. There is no fee and service includes back-up and 24 x 7 support. You must have a Partners username and password. To request a SFA, contact the Help Desk at 617.726.5085; they will send you a short form to complete.

3. Request FTP (file transfer protocol) accounts on our Terminal Server. The FTP server should not be used for storage and is to be used for work-related files only. There is no charge. The Research Computing FTP server is supported Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 4:00pm. Please manage your folder and avoid storing files that you no longer need to transfer/post. Files you post for transfer will be deleted after four weeks from posting date. Do not use your FTP account to share patient-identifiable data. To use the FTP server you can work at commandline or use a "GUI" client that offers SSL. We recommend CuteFTP. Go to their site for information on clients for Windows and Mac. Instructions on how to configure your FTP client are sent to you when you request an account. If you and your outside collaborator would like FTP accounts, send an email.
