Maurizio Fava, M.D., Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, is the Associate Chief of Psychiatry for Clinical Research at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Director of the MGH Depression Clinical and Research Program (DCRP). Under Dr Fava's direction, DCRP is internationally renowned as a leading center for the study of uni-polar depressive disorders.Focusing on treatment-resistant depression, DCRP investigators test novel antidepressant treatments, use genetic and brain imaging tools to predict antidepressant treatment and develop new approaches to the understanding of the biological changes that occur in this condition. DCRP's large group of experienced researchers, promising young trainees and junior faculty, generates countless clinical reports, pilot studies, and large controlled trials each year.

When asked about the role of the PHS Office of Corporate Sponsored Clinical Research (CSCR) in his research program, Dr. Fava replied that CSCR has been "an incredible asset to both our program and our department, helping us develop in a very timely and highly reliable fashion agreements with industry that would protect our interests and yet be acceptable to sponsors." He added, "The rapid turnaround of revisions of letters of agreement has also facilitated our relationships with sponsors." CSCR is committed to supporting investigators across the PHS system as they build relationships with corporate sponsors.
