Partners HealthCare Launches New Quality Report Card Web Site

Partners HealthCare and its member hospitals have been involved in a major effort over the past five years to improve quality, safety, and efficiency.   Through a series of initiatives called High Performance Medicine, Partners has accelerated the use of information technology, worked to increase patient safety and reduce medical errors, moved toward uniform high quality across the Partners System, improved care for the sickest and most expensive patients, and better managed the use of high-cost drugs and tests.

A key to the success of these initiatives has been the sharing of data internally to drive improvement.  Toward this aim, Partners has launched a new website, www.partners.org/quality, that reports on Partners hospitals’ performance and progress on a number of key measures.  We call this new site our High Performance Medicine Quality Report Card.  By posting this information publicly, Partners joins health care delivery systems across the country in supporting greater health care transparency.  Most of the U.S. News & World Report top ten hospitals, including Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, have launched public websites on which they post their quality and safety data.   Other additional hospitals and health systems are also choosing to make this information public.

The new online High Performance Medicine Quality Report Card can be accessed as www.partners.org/quality.  Data is available for a number of key measures with plans to expand this over time.  To submit feedback about the site, use the “Contact Us” link in the upper right-hand corner of the new website.
