Partners HealthCare Health & Fitness Expo

July 1, 2009

The third 7NBC/CW56 Partners HealthCare Health and Fitness Expo was a huge success June 27 and 28.  Our free service to the community, the two-day event attracted an estimated 70,000 area residents.  Thousands took advantage of the opportunity to get free health information, tests, and screenings.

More than 1,700 expo visitors particularly enjoyed the chance to get advice from one of the more than 60 Partners physicians who volunteered their time at the Expo.   Free health tests and screenings offered by Partners hospitals included: blood pressure, lung function, Peripheral Artery Disease, vein screens, Body Mass Index, balance, memory, bone density, cholesterol and glucose.

The Expo featured appearances by a number of local celebrities including: Tedy Bruschi of the New England Patriots, Red Sox great Bill Lee; soon to be inducted Baseball Hall of Famer Jim Rice; Anne Thompson NBC News correspondent, and Boston Marathon legend Bill Rodgers.
