Maternal and Infant Health Initiative (MIHI)

The Division of Global Health & Human Rights, of the MGH Department of Emergency Medicine, houses the Maternal and Infant Health Initiative (MIHI) in Zambia. The initiative is working in the Kapiri Mposhi District of Zambia, where MIHI has built a new birthing center in a rural part of the district. Working in concert with local health and hospital officials, MIHI plans to train Zambian midwives in advanced emergency obstetric and newborn care topics, with the hope of strengthening local health sector capacity.
