MDConnect

MDConnect is a unique service providing around-the-clock, comprehensive inpatient transfer and transport to Brigham and Women's and Massachusetts General Hospitals. The program is designed to support referring physicians and hospitals by facilitating the rapid transfer of critical care patients to Massachusetts General Hospital or Brigham and Women's Hospital, and the transfer of non-critical care patients to and from the two hospitals.

PURPOSE
The purpose of MD Connect is to enhance communication between referring physicians in the community and receiving physicians at our two Boston hospitals, and to improve care during transport by providing specially equipped and staffed critical care ambulances.

PROCESS FOR REFERRING PHYSICIAN TO TRANSFER PATIENT:

1. Call MD Connect at 1-877-MD-REFER (1-877-637-3337) and tell us which of our hospitals you would prefer to transfer your patient to. If you have no preference, we can expedite transfer of your patient to either Massachusetts General Hospital or Brigham and Women's Hospital.

2. Talk directly to an attending physician at Brigham and Women's Hospital or Massachusetts General Hospital. After providing pertinent medical data to our transfer coordinators, either stay on the line or return to your patient and our attending physician will call you back promptly.

3. Decide if you would like MD Connect to handle ambulance transport. Simply tell our transfer coordinators that you would like MD Connect to manage transportation to Boston, and we will make the arrangements.
