Medical Education Research Title 

The Partners Medical Education Research initiative focuses on understanding and improving the quality of medical education. The MER initiative facilitates faculty scholarship in medical education, with a particular interest in educational innovations which improve patient care.

The MER initiative offers Partners faculty:

  • monthly Works in Process review meetings at BWH and MGH
  • funding for research design or statistical consulting
  • resources providing information on MER funding, access to research tools and bibliographies
  • semi-annual Grand Rounds from national leaders in MER
  • lists of current faculty research in MER and faculty interested in research collaboration
     

Organization and Leadership

Partners Medical Education Research Initiative was developed through the Partners Graduate Medical Education Strategic Planning Process. The initiative includes several major components:

Monthly Education Education Research Works in Progress sessions where junior and more experience investigators working together to develop questions and projects related to MER.

Annual Grand Rounds in which invited leaders nationally address current and relevant topics in Medical Education Research.

Expert consultation funding is available for medical education research projects in design or statistics. Consulting details are available. For additional information contact Centers of Expertise for information.

Works in Progress Sessions:

Each session has a facilitator and research focus to be posted in advance of the session. Facilitation at MGH by John Co and Susan Farrell and at BWH by Jon Borus and Graham McMahon.
