Captain's Quarters The MGH Children's Center serves the children of employees of Partners HealthCare System, Inc. by providing high quality child care services for infants through five year olds.
The Center is open Monday-Friday, 6:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., 52 weeks a year excluding holidays. The Center is located in the historic Charlestown Navy Yard
and housed in the old Captain's Quarters, a beautifully renovated colonial
style townhouse. This unique setting and home-like facility provide an
ideal environment for young children. The program at the MGH Children's Center is carefully designed to meet the developmental needs of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Each age group has their own floor of the "house" designed and equipped just for them. Each classroom is staffed by a team of professional teachers and assistants, with a high teacher/child ratio. The teaching staff draw on their extensive background in Early Childhood Education, their creativity, and their careful observations of the needs of each individual child to plan daily activities. Attention is given to the growth and development of the whole child, physically, emotionally, intellectually, and socially. Children learn and develop new skills through play and their interactions with materials, each other, and their teachers, within the structure of a daily schedule. Tours of the Center are scheduled by appointment. The Center is open to children of all employees of Partners HealthCare System, Inc. Applications can be obtained on line or by contacting the Center. Following our receipt of the application, families will be contacted when a space becomes available at either the MGH Children's Center or the Children's Quarters. An enrollment interview will be scheduled with the director to finalize enrollment. At this time a non-refundable security deposit totaling one months tuition and a registration fee of $35 will be required. The security deposit will be applied towards the first full month of care. Openings will be filled on a first-come first-served basis by the date that the application is received. Selection will be made with consideration given to availability of slots in age groups. MGH benefits-eligible employees with a total family income of less than $75,000 per year, who are enrolled at the MGH Children’s Center, are eligible to apply for tuition subsidy. Families affiliated with Partners Health Care System, Inc. with children
enrolled at the MGH Children's Center or the Children's Quarters will
receive enrollment priority for siblings at the Partners Child Care Centers. Click here for an enrollment application form. Parents must send lunches for toddlers and preschoolers, and formula
and appropriate food for infants. Two nutritious snacks will be provided
by the Center each day. The MGH Children's Center is designed for "well" child care. Medical consultation and screening is available to the Center through MGH Children's Services and Bunker Hill Pediatric and Emergency Units. The Center also makes use of other resources available through Partners to insure a healthy and safe environment. As a work-site center, we encourage full participation and welcome visits from parents. Our goal is to create a very special community of support among parents, children and staff, where all can share in rich and rewarding experiences and in the joy of these very special years of children's development. The staff will serve as a resource to parents through daily reports, ongoing communication, and special enrichment and educational events. The MGH Children's Center is managed by Partners Child Care Services, a department of Partners Human Resources. The Director of the center reports to the Director of Child Care Services. Each floor, staffed by early childhood professionals, is overseen by an Educational Coordinator. Coordinators report to the center Director. The MGH Children's Center is licensed by the Massachusetts Department
of Early Education and Care (DEEC). For more information please contact us: MGH Children's Center Phone: (617) 726-5437 The MGH Children's Center does not discriminate in providing services
