What Kind Of Salary Can I Expect?

Job functions determine salary. The mid-range salary for a clinical coder in Massachusetts is $51,000 per year. Salaries increase with advanced education, and experience.

At Partners HealthCare, the starting salary is approximately $32,000 per year. The top of the range for a professional coder with experience and advanced education is about $65,000.

American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) the certifying and professional organization for health information has published reports for viewing at http://www.ahima.org/careers/index.asp

AHIMA has trended member statistics on 10 different health information job categories and have correlated advanced education and credentialing with salary increases. AHIMA will be producing updated metrics on specific job functions and core competencies in the coming year.
