Stanley J. Lukowski, Chairman Partners Continuing Care, Chairman Emeritus Eastern Bank Corp.

Stan Lukowski is Chairman Emeritus of Eastern Bank Corporation.  He retired  in December 2006 as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, a position he assumed in 1992. Under his direction, Eastern Bank has grown to become the largest independent commercial bank in New England, with 74 branches stretching from Merrimack to Cape Cod, assets of more than $6.8 billion and more than $4 billion in loans.

A 30-year Eastern Bank veteran, Stan was previously employed by Arthur Andersen of Hartford, Connecticut where he earned his CPA.  He later joined the Boston office of Kidder, Peabody and Company, as a Vice President in the Corporate Finance Department.

In 1976, he started his banking career as a Vice President of Salem Savings Bank.  He became President of the Bank in 1981 when Salem Savings merged with First East Savings in Lynn to form Eastern Bank.

Born and raised in New Britain, Connecticut, Stan holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Villanova University and a Masters Degree in Business from Columbia University. 

Stan is a dedicated leader and actively involved with several community groups on the North Shore and Boston.  Stan serves as Chairman of the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation, The Massachusetts Housing Partnership, and is a Director of Abt Associates Inc., where he serves on the Audit and Strategic Planning Committees.  He is the former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the North Shore Medical Center and now serves as Chairman of the Medical Center’s Board of Overseers.  A former Trustee of the Partners HealthCare System, he currently serves on the Partners Compensation and Audit Committees as well as Partners Continuing Care Committee.  Stan is also a former Director of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and serves as an overseer of the Peabody/Essex Museum.  Stan’s prior affiliations include the Massachusetts Bankers Association, the Lynn Business Partnership, the Lynn Development Board, the Boston and Salem YMCA and the Salem Partnership.
