BOSTON - Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), the founding members of Partners HealthCare, are among the nation’s top ten hospitals on the U.S. News & World Report annual Honor Roll of America’s Best Hospitals - with MGH reclaiming the highest ranking (1). BWH earned its best ever ranking, sixth (6), up three spots from last year.  This achievement makes Boston the only city in the United States with two hospitals ranked among the top ten on the Honor Roll.

Another two Partners hospitals - McLean Hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital - were also recognized for national excellence. McLean Hospital was ranked fourth (4) in the nation in psychiatry and Spaulding Rehabilitation was ranked sixth (6) for rehabilitation. The rankings, now available online, will be published in the magazine’s August issue as part of its 2015-2016 Best Hospitals guide.

U.S. News makes regional hospital rankings to complement its national rankings. Four Partners hospitals ranked in the top ten in the Boston area. MGH and BWH earned recognition as the #1 and #2 hospitals respectively. North Shore Medical Center ranked #5 and was recognized as high-performing in hip replacement, heart failure care and knee replacement. Newton-Wellesley ranked #10 and was recognized as high-performing in knee and hip replacement.

“The Boston region is like no other in the US when it comes to health care excellence. It’s gratifying to see MGH recognized as the best in the nation and for the Brigham to receive its highest ever ranking,” said Partners President and CEO Dr. David Torchiana. “Patients choose to come to our hospitals from around the nation and the world for the quality of care we provide. This recognition is a nice compliment for the dedicated care teams in our hospitals that deliver the best care possible.”

Nationally, Partners also scored extremely well in the individual specialty rankings.

MGH was among the top ten hospitals in the country in fifteen specialties including ear nose & throat (ranked #1 in partnership with Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary), cancer, cardiology & heart surgery, diabetes & endocrinology, gastroenterology & GI surgery, geriatrics, gynecology, nephrology, neurology & neurosurgery, ophthalmology (in partnership with Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary), orthopedics, psychiatry, pulmonary, rehabilitation (in partnership with Spaulding) and rheumatology.
