Gary Gottlieb, MD, President and CEO of Partners HealthCare, recently spoke at the Massachusetts State House in honor of White Ribbon Day, a campaign to end violence against women. Gottlieb was joined by fellow featured speakers, Massachusetts Health and Human Services Secretary John Polanowicz, Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo, and Pastor Ron Odom of True Vine Church. The March 6th event was chaired by Governor Deval Patrick.

The Massachusetts White Ribbon Day was founded by Jane Doe Inc. as a means of highlighting a strategy for encouraging men to take a stand against violence against women.

Dr. Gottlieb spoke about the role that the business and health care communities have in addressing violence against women as a matter of public health.
