Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital is applying new brain stimulation technology for stroke therapy. WBZ-TV's Dr. Mallika Marshall recently featured a story including Felipe Fregni, a neurologist at Spaulding, a member hospital of Partners HealthCare.

Neurologists can attach a device to a patient’s scalp to deliver an electrical current, called transcranial direct stimulation, or tCDS. tCDS has been used to affect people’s behavior, such as reducing food cravings. This type of technology could not only apply to alcohol, tobacco and drug addiction patients, but it could have potential for rehabilitation patients in regaining mobility.
