Partners HealthCare Personalized Medicine’s Heidi Rehm, Director of the Laboratory for Molecular Medicine and Associate Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School, attended a White House event announcing the President's commitment to "precision medicine." Barack Obama announced a $215 million plan to create a genetic database for researchers to understand genetics for cancer therapy, reported the Boston Business Journal.

Partners HealthCare currently has its own genetic database of Brigham and Women’ Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital patients. The President's initiative will provide funding to sequence patients who have submitted samples, more rapidly innovating personalized medicine.
