MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston will launch the first Entry-Level Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) degree program in New England, beginning in June 2014—one of only nine such programs in the country.

Approved by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education, the professional doctoral program is a full-time, three-year program that will prepare students with advanced skills and scholarly experience beyond current master’s degree programs in the field, specifically in such areas as leadership, health policy, health care delivery systems, and interprofessional teamwork.

The program builds on the MGH Institute’s success during the past 36 years of preparing health care leaders. The OTD program complements the existing suite of entry-level degree programs in physical therapy and speech-language pathology.

The OTD program will begin accepting applications for the first class (which starts in June of 2014) beginning in the summer of 2013. See the program's application process.

The MGH Institute is the only degree-granting affiliate of Partners HealthCare.
