Joseph Kvedar, MD, Director of the Partners HealthCare Center for Connected Health, spoke recently at Northeastern University's 2014 International Conference on Intelligent Virtual Agents.

Kvedar's keynote address brought up the idea of using technology to aid with caregiving in a virtual setting as a way of supplementing some of the tasks that nurses and doctors carry out, due to future projections for shortages in these professions. He also stressed the importance of engaging patients through new technology as a way to keep patients healthy and proactively prevent poor health outcomes.
