Nearly 300 children got a peek into health care professions at a Camp Harbor View career fair last week. Nurses and therapists affiliated with Partners HealthCare, as well as staff from Newton Wellesley Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Spaulding, offered their support at the event on Tuesday.

Sponsored by Partners HealthCare and operated by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, Camp Harbor View is located on a former military based on Long Island and aims to educate hundreds of Boston youth and curb violence. Called “a little piece of heaven,” according to Mayor Thomas Menino, Camp Harbor View offers academic and leadership classes about sustainability and robotics, as well as activities, such as swimming and sailing.
