Research Funding
Research Grants and Contracts
The Research Grants and Contracts group manages the application and administration process for all grants and subcontracts.
To do this, Grants and Contracts works closely with the Principal Investigators (PIs) and Department Administrators across all Partners entities, as well as collaborating institutions and sponsoring agencies.
Grants and Contracts Administration is the official contracting entity at Partners for all federal and foundation awards and operates through delegation of authority from the Partners Board of Directors. All grant submissions must be signed off on by Grants and Contracts Administration prior to submission to the granting agency.
Research Finance
The Research Finance group partners with the Principal Investigators and Research Departments to manage the financial reporting and operating activities through control and review of all research related transactions. This includes report preparation and distribution, grant and contract billing, receivable management, indirect cost review, and cash management.
This team acts as a liaison between Research Finance and the broader Partners Finance organization.
Partners Innovation Fund
The Partners Innovation Fund, created in 2007 by Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, addresses an unmet need for funding emerging technology in the capital gap.
The primary objective of the Fund is to accelerate technologies developed by Partners HealthCare investigators to market, thereby improving health care quality, cost, and outcomes.
Structured as a separate LLC entity, the $35M Fund is designed to be evergreen with all gains from investments recycling back into the fund to create capital for additional investments. Investment decision oversight is provided by an independent external committee composed of experts from industry, venture capital and academia.
