Graduate medical education at Mass General Brigham benefits from an outstanding faculty and staff, a diverse group of patients from local communities and around the world, and state-of-the art facilities and technology to train expert clinicians, physician scientists, and leaders in all areas of medicine. Our integrated system of academic medical centers, community hospitals, psychiatric and rehabilitation hospitals, health centers, and primary care practices provide a rare and rich combination of educational resources.

Instruction in an integrated health system

Mass General Brigham trains physicians each year in nearly all specialties and subspecialties of medicine. Some programs are offered independently by one of the Mass General Brigham hospitals while others provide integrated training that draws on the strengths of more than one Mass General Brigham institution.

Graduate Medical Education Office

The Office of Graduate Medical Education (GME) serves to optimize the quality of the education and learning environment for residents and clinical fellows by:

  • Partnering with institutional leaders to optimize the approach, infrastructure, and support for trainees and their programs, including program leadership
  • Providing core educational programming through workshops and retreats for trainees, program directors, and program staff
  • Implementing strategic initiatives to enhance educational quality and support trainees’ career development, such as the Mass General Brigham Centers of Expertise for residents and fellows
  • Supporting GME program improvement through program reviews, accreditation-related activities, and the involvement of Education Specialists
  • Addressing issues related to resident and fellow quality of life, directly and via support of the Mass General Brigham Resident/Fellow Well-Being Council
  • Supporting the work of Mass General Brigham and hospital-based GME committees
  • Providing forums for communication with internal constituencies and serving as the liaison to national organizations

Alumni Association

The Mass General Brigham Alumni Association is a community of clinicians who share the common experience of having completed medical training through any Mass General Brigham Graduate Medical Education program or a postdoctoral appointment.
