PORT provides links to a range of child care options available to trainees at Partners and also can provide individual advice on resources.
BWH Childcare Options in the Longwood Medical Area
An extensive list of childcare options in the Longwood Medical Area is provided by the Harvard Office for Work and Family.
Brigham and Women's Hospital Back-up Childcare
BWH Back-up Childcare provides emergency, backup child care to BWH employees whose children are between the ages of 8 weeks and 12 years. Backup care is intended to supplement rather than replace regular child care.
MGH Children's Center
The MGH Children's Center serves the children of employees of MGH and Partners HealthCare by providing high quality child care services for infants through five year olds. The Center is located in Charlestown.
MGH Backup Childcare Center
The Massachusetts General Hospital Backup Childcare Center provides emergency child care services to Mass General patients and employees of Partners HealthCare. Children aged 9 months to 12 years are welcome
HMS Office for Work and Family
HMS Office for Work and Family provides comprehensive information and links to various childcare options that are available to trainees at all Harvard affiliated teaching hospitals.
Parents in a Pinch
Parents in a Pinch provides child care services at the client’s home.
Employee Assistance Program Childcare Resources
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Childcare Resources is a valuable resource in helping residents and fellows find permanent or emergency/back-up child care. An EAP counselor can work with you to assess your child care needs and determine the best resources to meet those needs. They also offer a variety of literature and conduct seminars on child care and parenting issues.
Lactation
All Partners employees have access to lactation rooms and equipment. For specific information, please go to The Mother's Corner.
In addition, lactation space is available at MGH in the female on-call room on Bigelow 9 (room 952). During the hours of 7:30 am – 7:30 pm Housestaff can use this area for lactation purposes. A privacy curtain along with a refrigerator and an occupied/vacant sign has been installed for this purpose.
