Georges Bordage, MD, PhD, May 10-11, 2010
Dr. Georges Bordage is a professor in the Department of Medical Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and has directed Masters programs in health sciences and health professions education. Dr. Bordage has served as Chairman of the Editorial Board of Medical Education. He is a past recipient of the Abraham Flexner Award of the Association of American Medical College for extraordinary contributions to the medical education community.

Michael M.E. Johns MD, May 18-19, 2009
Michael Johns assumed the post of Chancellor for Emory University in 2007. Prior to that, beginning in 1996, he served as Executive Vice President for Health Affairs and CEO of the Robert W. Woodruff Health Sciences Center and Chair of Emory Healthcare. He previously served as Dean of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Vice President for Medicine at Johns Hopkins University from 1990 to 1996.
Dr. Johns received his bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University and his medical degree with distinction at the University of Michigan Medical School. From 1977 to 1984 he was a faculty member at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
The recipient of numerous honors and awards, he is a member of the Institute of Medicine and has served in leadership positions in many other professional organizations.
The title of Dr. Johns presentation was "Training Physicians: 'Hour' Duty as Teachers and Learners”
David Irby, PhD, September 26, 2008
Dr. David Irby is Vice Dean for Education and Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco where he directs undergraduate, graduate and continuing medical education programs of the School of Medicine and leads the Office of Medical Education. As a Senior Scholar at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, he also co-directs a national study on the professional preparation of physicians - the Second Flexner Report.
For his research on clinical teaching in medicine and leadership in medical education, he received the Distinguished Scholar Award by the American Educational Research Association, the John P. Hubbard Award from the National Board of Medical Examiners, and the Daniel C. Tosteson Award for Leadership in Medical Education from the Carl J. Shapiro Institute for Education and Research at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Dr. Irby is also noted for his faculty development workshops that have been conducted nationally and internationally and for his Teaching Scholars Program.
He earned a Doctorate in Education from the University of Washington and a Masters of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary, and did a postdoctoral fellowship in academic administration from Harvard.
