Academic Health Care Management
The Future of Healthcare: Innovative Business Models Annual Healthcare Conference at Harvard Business School, Saturday, February 4th, 2012
The conference includes senior business and thought leaders. Keynote speakers include Bill Crounse (Senior Director of Worldwide Health at Microsoft), Lawrence Culp (President and CEO of Danaher), and Karen Ignagni (President and CEO of America's Health Insurance Plans). Panel topics include biotech/pharma, global health, health IT, device/diagnostics, entrepreneurship/venture capital, and payer/provider. Networking sessions and a career fair, including sponsors Athena Health, Cardinal Partners, Danaher, Deloitte, Genentech, Health Advances, Lilly, Medtronic, and Tenet. There is open for registration. Global Health
International Travel Grants: The Center of Expertise International Travel Scholarship program offers twenty $2,000 travel awards annually to eligible Partners residents and fellows. Applications are due semi-annually and grants will be awarded based on review by the leadership of the Global Health Center of Expertise.

Health Policy
Academy Health Annual Research Meeting: June 24-26, 2012, Orlando FL. AcademyHealth's Annual Research Meeting (ARM) is the premier forum for health services research, where more than 2,400 attendees gather to discuss health policy implications, sharpen research methods, and network with colleagues from around the world. The ARM program is designed for health services researchers, providers, key decision makers, clinicians, graduate students, and research analysts who want to:
•Examine emerging research issues critical to the organization, financing, and management of health services;
•Get updates on the latest research studies and current health policy issues;
•Hear the research funding priorities of foundations and federal agencies; and
•Explore the impact of health services research on improving access and quality of care.

Quality and Patient Safety
National Patient Safety Congress on May 23-25, 2012 in Washington, DC. The NPSF Patient Safety Congress is an annual opportunity to learn from and exchange ideas with patient safety experts and practitioners from around the globe. The Congress provides real-world tools, resources, and evidence-based solutions for patient safety issues. This program delivers 30 educational sessions led by industry experts. A full day of in-depth Pre-Congress sessions and a variety of motivational plenary speakers make the Patient Safety Congress the foremost learning and networking event in the field.

Fellowship opportunities related to Centers of Expertise
Global Women’s Health Fellowship: The Global Women’s Health Fellowship is an interdisciplinary and cross-collaborative research and training program organized through the Connors Center for Women’s Health and the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative (HHI). In recognition of the growing need for physician leadership within the global community and the lack of a comprehensive and collaborative training program, this fellowship was developed to enable health care professionals to hone research skills, knowledge, and experience in order to significantly impact the global community, with an emphasis on women’s health.
Harvard Medical School Fellowship in Quality and Safety: The primary goal of the HMS Fellowship in Quality and Patient Safety is to train a cadre of physician-scholars who are prepared to lead operational improvement efforts within the Harvard system and across the nation. This two year postgraduate program is for physicians who are in or have completed a residency or fellowship program. Fellowship to start June 2012.
