Corporate Finance Summer Internship Program
The Finance internship program runs from June to August (for a total of 12 weeks). These are paid internships for current undergrad and graduate students. Each intern has a sponsor and specific project, the group comes together regularly for planned activities and learning opportunities. These events include:
A general internship orientation program and another, more specific program introducing them to the Finance organization.
- A weekly “Lunch & Learn” series, lead by the sponsors, which introduce them to the various functional areas within Partners Finance.
- Regularly-scheduled check-ins with the Finance Staffing Team
- Guided tours of the two academic medical centers, Brigham & Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital
- A luncheon with the Finance Senior Vice President/CFO
- A final group luncheon and presentations to internship sponsors and others
Information Systems Summer Internship Program
Partners Information Systems has had a formal summer internship program since 2006. The goal of the program is two-fold. As a teaching organization, we are committed to providing an excellent learning experience for our interns, and mentoring opportunities for our staff. As an employer, we are helping to develop a pipeline of future health care IT talent. We have had great success in hiring some of our interns following graduation.
Each winter, interested managers submit internship proposals competing for approximately 10 intern positions. The best crafted proposals win, and represent a cross-section of our IS department. Of critical importance is that interns are expected to do "real work," and deliver a defined product or service within their team. This makes the program of mutual benefit - our interns get marketable work experience, and our organization benefits from the efforts of a valuable resource.
Accepted students participate in a special orientation just for them, where they get to meet senior leadership and other experienced staff. We also typically host a mid-summer luncheon, where the interns meet some of our directors and site CIOs. Some of our former interns enjoyed the experience so much that they are now regular employees.
