Partners HealthCare Global Programs

Global health outreach has been a part of the Partners mission since its inception, and a part of our founding hospitals’ missions for centuries. Our work not only improves health care for some of the most underserved populations but also provides avenues for research that can improve health care for all populations.

  • Partners International collaborates with colleagues overseas to improve health care worldwide. Partners International offers clinical development and advisory services, patient care services, educational exchanges, clinical program affiliations and opportunities for research collaboration, all tailored to meet the needs of our global partners.

Partners International’s global health collaborations include clinics and care services for patients in Bermuda, a partnership with a Chinese consulting firm to offer a wider array of medical services, relationships with universities in India and China, and the coordination of health care conferences in the United Arab Emirates, among many other collaborations.

Additionally, Partners International offers patients in Bermuda, Canada, India, and Greece a local representative that can coordinate care with specialists from Partners-affiliated hospitals in Boston.

  • Partners Harvard Medical International transforms global health care delivery by building strategic collaborations with regional leaders committed to excellence and innovation in the provision of health care and workforce development.
  • Center of Expertise in Global and Humanitarian Health, a program for graduate medical education students that offers opportunities that complement clinical training by providing exposure to important areas of medicine and health care delivery.  The focus of the Center is to expose trainees to the broad range of clinical and research opportunities in Global Health and care of vulnerable populations. Through lectures, travel grants, and mentorship, trainees explore the breadth of global career paths.
  • Partners HealthCare Center for Connected Health develops innovative and effective solutions for delivering quality patient care outside of the traditional medical setting. Since 2001 the Center has been working on remote consultations through Operation Village Health, a program that seeks to establish an innovative communications technology platform that increases local capacity and emphasizes effective, self-sufficient, and affordable local care for communities in the developing world. This is done through a system that involves local Cambodian health care workers gathering medical data and transmitting that to specialists in Boston and in Phnom Penh for review. The specialists’ assessments can then be translated into care for the rural Cambodian patients.
